Attitude: The way that you think and feel about something or somebody, the way that you behave towards somebody or something that shows how you think and feel. It is also the way you think of yourself.
Your attitude is an outward indicator of your inner feeling.
A great attitude sees every problem as a challenge, and every challenge as an opportunity for breakthrough. It turns stumbling blocks into stepping stones.
If you believe you can, you can
The great discovery of my generation is that a man can alter his life by altering his attitude or mind.
William James, Psychologist
A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.
David Brinkley, Television Journalist
DIMENSIONS OF ATTITUDE :
1 A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
2 A WILLING ATTITUDE
3 A GRATEFUL ATTITUDE
4 A WINNING ATTITUDE
5 A JOYFUL ATTITUDE
6 A MOTIVATED ATTITUDE
1. A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
A positive attitude is essential for success. It is vital to see the upside of everything. Being positive in outlook is the key to spotting opportunities around.
A person with a positive attitude sees opportunities where others see problems.
People are attracted to light; they are attracted to a positive view.
E.g. The story of the shoe marketers; one saw a people who do not wear shoes, and so felt they did not need shoes; but the other saw a people that needed shoes because they did not wear shoes.
2. A WILLING ATTITUDE
Willingness is a key to success in life. It is difficult to get an unwilling person to achieve something.
(Isa 1:19)- If you are willing and obedient…
Success comes in a can.
“I can do all things…”.
If you believe you can, then you can.
Every great achievement comes with the simple attitude of willingness.
(Philemon 1:14) – But without the mind will I do nothing…
3. A GRATEFUL ATTITUDE
It is impossible to maintain a great attitude without a grateful heart. To succeed we need to possess an attitude of gratitude.
(2Tim 3:2) ingratitude has become one symptoms of the last days.
Don’t be sucked in by it.
(Rom 1:21). … nor were thankful.
Successful people rule their attitudes.
They are not wanting to see in order to feel.
They know how they want to feel and choose to “feel” that way.
They do not live at the mercy of their emotions or moods.
Their moods are the products of their choices.
They “rejoice always”(1 Thess 5:16).
4. A WINNING ATTITUDE
You are a born winner, but whether you will actually win will depend on your attitude.
The difference between those who succeed and those that fail is attitude.
If you do not think you will ever make it, you never will.
No man rises beyond his thought level.
(Prov. 23:7). You are what you think.
What determines your outcome in life is your attitude. The 12 spies that Moses sent comes to mind.
(Phil 4:13). I can do all things. Have faith in God’s power and ability in you.
If you can believe, anything is possible
(Mk 9:23).
You need a winner’s mentality to succeed. You need a can-do spirit.
The winner’s edge is all in the attitude, not aptitude
And your attitude determines your altitude.
5. A JOYFUL ATTITUDE
A sense of humor is part of a great attitude. It begins by never taking yourself too seriously.
Humors help us to see the brighter side of life.
Research has shown that fun keeps you fit.
A good laughter act as a sort of internal aerobics, working on the muscles of the heart and upper body, stimulating the nerves and improving the way the body uses energy.
Laughter lowers blood pressures and massages the heart, lungs and other vital organs.
A baby first chuckles emerges around 3 months, by age 6, he laughs 300 times a day, by adulthood around 47.
Laughter triggers the release of an antibody called immuno-globin A, which boost the immune system.
“The people who live the longest and stay the healthiest are those who are the happiest and most creative”
Women smile more than men, especially when they are doing the talking. Women laugh a lot more than men when talking to another person.
It is said we do not stop playing because we get old. We get old because we stop playing.
(Prov. 17:22). A merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.
Happiness is a choice. Don’t let external influences determine your state.
If you must to see long days, stay healthy and experience continuous breakthrough, then be happy.
(Isa. 12:3). Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the joy of salvation…
(1 Sam. 1:18-19) ….”so the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad….. and the Lord remembered her.
Postponing joy until something happens to justify happiness guarantees a miserable life. Joy is within you right now.
6. A MOTIVATED ATTITUDE
Motivation is a state of continual enthusiasm.
Knowledge is power but enthusiasm is the switch.
A motivated attitude make things happen.
Don’t wait to see things happen, make things happen. Don’t just sit on the sideline, waiting to see what’s going to happen.
Distraction, laziness and discouragement are man’s serious enemies of continual motivation.
In the midst of distraction and discouragement learn to motivate yourself.
David encouraged himself. (1sam 30:6)
